Our mission is to research, publish and distribute to doctors and the general public proven scientific information about integrative biological protocols for the prevention and treatment of cancer.

A Little History

Molecular biologist and cancer scientist, Angelo P. John, Sr. has had a lifelong passion for the study of biochemistry and a devotion to cancer research. It began when he was a child and continued through his college education and adult life.

John founded the A. P. John Institute for Cancer Research in 1978. In previous years, John worked in cancer research with Dr. Stock during the doctor's tenure as Director at Memorial Sloan Kettering. John also operated his own research laboratory for more than 18 years. John has spent the past forty-five years researching, pioneering, and validating some of the most advanced clinically proven protocols for the treatment of cancer.

In 1961, John published his first anti-cancer diet and nutritional book titled: Diaitis, Anti-Cancer Nutrients In Cancer Prevention & Cure. In it John outlines his theories about the prevention, causality, and treatment of cancer. And in 1985, John published his second book called: Amino Acids in the Prevention and Healing of AIDS. That book shares John's vast knowledge of immune system biochemistry, and it outlines dietary instructions for building and maintaining a healthy and effective immune system that thwarts the AIDS virus. The book contains recommendations for a high protein diet, mega dosages of vitamins and minerals, and intermittent dosages of radiation to the lymph nodes. John's theory that irradiating the lymph nodes successfully treats AIDS is undergoing clinical trials by Dr. Joseph M. McCune at the University of California, San Francisco.

As far back as 1969 John developed his first two protocols for the treatment of cancer, one called Intra Tumor Therapy and the other, Ischemia Reperfusion Tumor Therapy. John's involvement in the Intra-Tumor Therapy began with a cancer study with biologist Robert Holman of Mifflingburg, PA. The research proved that Intra-Tumor Therapy cured cancers in laboratory animals. The therapy involves injecting chemicals such as Hydrogen Peroxide and Acetic Acid directly into a tumor, which causes it to totally disappear. In 1995, the New England Journal of Medicine reported that Intra-Tumor Therapy is now the treatment of choice for liver cancer in Asia and Italy.

John's patented Ischemia-Reperfusion Tumor Therapy involves inserting a catheter containing a balloon into an artery feeding a tumor. Every half-hour the balloon is either inflated or deflated. During that process of occlusion and reperfusion, the cancer cells undergo a series of chemical reactions that cause them to produce toxic free radicals and self-destruct. Researchers at Lund University in Sweden have proven that the process of occlusion and reperfusion does indeed cause cancer cells to die.

Most notably, John developed an integrative biological protocol for the treatment of cancer. His protocol, Controlled Amino Acid Therapy (CAAT) is an amino acid and carbohydrate deprivation cancer therapy, which is administered to the patient for approximately six to nine months. It strategically and scientifically utilizes the chemical reactions and interactions between amino acids, foods and nutritional supplements to alter or impair the development of cancer cells. CAAT achieves this goal by interfering and blocking the five basic requirements of cell formation; structure, energy, blood vessels, growth hormones and functions. CAAT works synergistically with chemotherapy and/or radiation, and has also been proven effective alone.

John routinely appears as a guest on "The Helen Larson Talk Show" (channel 27 on cable TV) throughout Westchester County, New York, and Fairfield County, Connecticut. He has been a guest on numerous radio talk shows across the United States. He has spoken at the prestigious Wainwright House in Rye, New York, Share self-help for women with breast or ovarian cancer, and local clubs throughout the New York tri-state area. He has also presented at several medical conferences including the April 2002 conference sponsored by the Harvard School of Medicine, in July 2002 at the American Institute for Cancer Research in Washington, DC. And for the past couple of years at the Comprehensive Cancer Care Conference on Integrating Complementary and Alternative Therapies, jointly sponsored by NCCAM and NCI.

Speaking Engagements

	April 9 - 13, 2003 Mr. John gave an oral presentation on the research and the science behind Controlled Amino Acid Therapy at the 5th Annual Comprehensive Cancer Care - Integrating Complementary and Alternative Therapies with Mainstream Care conference in Washington, DC. This conference is in participation with the National Cancer Institute and sponsored by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Cancer Treatment Centers of America and The Kanbar Fund for Innovative Cancer Research.
	On July 11-12, 2002, in Washington, DC, at an international conference sponsored by the American Institute for Cancer Research and the World Cancer Research Fund, Mr. John was invited to present his work on CAAT. His poster presentation, which detailed the science that supports CAAT, was titled "Promising Weapons for Biological Warfare against Cancer."
	Mr. John was invited to share his research on "Why Glucose Is Cancer's Weakest Link" at the International Conference on Complementary, Alternative & Integrative Medicine held on April 12-14, 2002. This conference was sponsored by the Division of Research and Education in Complementary and Integrative Medical Therapies of Harvard Medical School Osher Institute. Additional sponsors were the University of California-San Francisco School of Medicine; Department of Medicine, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center; National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine; and National Cancer Institute.
	During February 2002 at Yale Cancer Center of Yale-New Haven Hospital, Dr. Joel Evans, Honorary Co-chairman of the Physicians' Advisory Board to U.S. Congress, lectured on cancer and nutrition. Discussing Controlled Amino Acid Therapy, he explained how it works and cited a notable recovery his patient experienced by using CAAT.
	In October 2001, Mr. John was invited to present a poster presentation on "Why Glucose Is Cancer's Weakest Link" at the Comprehensive Cancer Care Conference on Integrating Complementary and Alternative Therapies. This meeting was jointly sponsored by the University of Texas Houston Medical School and the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, with support from National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, National Cancer Institute, and the American Cancer Society.
	July 16-17, 2001 Mr. John was invited to the 11th Annual AICR Research Conference on Diet, Nutrition, and Cancer. Mr. John presented an in depth discussion outlining his work on how dysfunctional mitochondria, not oxygen insufficiency, cause cancer cells to produce inordinate amounts of lactic acid and how this fact impacts the treatment of cancer.
	Mr. John was a guest speaker on CAAT at SmithKline Beecham's Gynecologic Oncology Nurse-Consultants Meeting, March 24-26, 2000. More than 100 participating oncology nurses were educated about CAAT, how it works and how it can enhance the benefits of SmithKline's ovarian cancer fighting drug Topotecan.
	On December 13, 1999, Mr. John spoke before the President's Cancer Advisory Panel for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health. His paper, which detailed his many years of work, described CAAT as a biological approach to complement chemotherapy in treating inoperable tumors.
	Mr. John was an invited guest of Jeffrey D. White, M.D., Director, Office of Cancer Complementary and Alternative Medicine, National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, Maryland. The June 1999 conference on Comprehensive Cancer Care II focused on Integrating Complementary and Alternative Therapies. It was jointly sponsored by the University of Texas Houston Medical School and the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, in collaboration with National Cancer Institute and National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
	Assemblyman Ron Tucci invited Mr. John to the Ninth Annual New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators, June 5-7, 1999. Mr. John lectured and answered questions about (cancer prevention) the cancer detox system, and (cancer treatment) CAAT.
Published Scientific Articles/Abstracts
	A scientific article researched and written by molecular biologist and cancer scientist Angelo P. John, Sr. appeared in the October 2001 issue (Vol. 57:4, pp. 429-31) of the prestigious journal Medical Hypotheses. The title of the paper is "Dysfunctional mitochondria, not oxygen insufficiency, cause cancer cells to produce inordinate amounts of lactic acid. The impact of this on the treatment of cancer." The article discusses one of the several cancer-killing functions of CAAT.
	From the proceedings of the Harvard scientific conference (International conference on integrative medicine research) "Why glucose is cancers weakest link." Appeared in March 2003 issue of the Journal of Herbal Pharmacotherapy.
